College Relations Alumni Relations Assistant


The Alumni Relations Assistant will use his/her working knowledge of general College Relations practices, and excellent oral and written communication skills to support the activities of Alumni Relations in the Belmont Abbey College community. The Alumni Relations Assistant is responsible for providing general assistance and other relevant Alumni Relations duties. May be assigned occasional evening assignments – special events.

The ideal candidate possesses maturity, good personality, punctuality, dependability,flexibility, accuracy and must be able to follow instructions. Must be trustworthy due to the exposure to confidential and sensitive information. The candidate must be self-motivated and able to pay attention to minute details. The work environment is a general office setting with limited strenuous physical demands – able to climb 3 flights of stairs and move boxes up to 30 lbs. Must be willing to handle other duties as assigned.

Work Schedule

The Alumni Relations Assistant will make his or her own schedule at the beginning of the semester. The supervisor is flexible with schedule according to class schedules. The Alumni Relations Assistant should expect to work between the hours of 8:30 AM and 4:30 PM, and may be required to work some evenings and weekends for special events. Due to the needs of Alumni Relations, students who apply for this position must be able to commit to a minimum of 5 hours per week.


The Alumni Relations Assistant will work primarily in the offices of Alumni Relations, located on the 3rd  floor of Stowe Hall.



Specific duties include but are not limited to:
·         Word Processing
·         Telephone contact
·         Special event coordination (Alumni functions)
·         Research (websites, office files)
·         Copying, collating, distribution
·         Mass Mailings
The successful candidates will have an exemplary work ethic, be able to assist the Alumni Relations staff, understand the “big picture” while also not be afraid to roll up his or her sleeves to do the work that will support an administrative community that nourishes the mind, body, and spirit of the whole student.
