Campus Ministry Office Assistant - Campus Ministry
Requirements
Reporting to the supervisor, the Office Assistant will use his/her working knowledge of general secretarial practices, and excellent oral and written communication skills to support the activities of the Campus Ministry department in the Belmont Abbey College community. The Office Assistant is responsible for providing a variety of clerical duties, e.g, copying,
faxing, filing; messaging and delivery runs; computer research; etc.; and other relevant Campus Ministry duties.
While this position is not physically strenuous, the candidate must be able to move freely about the campus and its buildings to deliver any necessary items or mail and to post/remove promotional materials for Campus Ministry events.
Work Schedule
The Office Assistant will make his or her own schedule at the beginning of the semester. The supervisor is flexible with schedule according to class schedules. At this time, the Office Assistant position is about 10-12 hours a week, which should ideally be made up of a regular combination of morning and afternoon hours.
Location
The Campus Ministry Office Assistant will work primarily in the offices of Campus Ministry, located on the 1st floor of O’Connell Hall.
Responsibilities
Specific duties include but are not limited to:
- Proficiency in typing and good at spelling, punctuation, grammar, and oral communication
- Good interpersonal skills as the Office Assistant must be tactful in his/her dealings with other students, faculty and college community personnel
- Discretion, good judgment, organizational or management ability, initiative, and the ability to work independently
- The ability to: conduct research; disseminate information by using the telephone, mail services, Web sites, and e-mail; facility with Facebook (to help maintain the Campus Ministry page); use a variety of office equipment (fax, copier, computer, scanner, digital camera)
The successful candidates will have an exemplary work ethic, be able to assist the College Relations Department staff, understand the “big picture” while also not be afraid to roll up his or her sleeves to do the work that will support a spiritual community that nourishes the mind, body, and spirit of the whole student.
