Business/Economics Assistant - Business Department

Requirements

The student assistant will use excellent oral and written communication skills, information literacy and computer skills to support the activities of the Business Department in the Belmont Abbey College community. The student assistant is responsible for providing any assistance as requested by full-time and adjunct Department of Business faculty.

The ideal candidate is dependable, possesses organizational skills, has the ability to follow oral and written directions, and demonstrates the communication skills and initiative to do what is needed by department faculty. The work environment is a general office setting with no physical demands more strenuous than filing books on shelves.

Work Schedule

The student assistant will make his or her own schedule at the beginning of the semester, averaging 5 to 10 hours per week. The supervisor is flexible according to class schedules.

Location

The student assistant will work primarily in the Business Department.

Responsibilities

Specific duties include but are not limited to:

  • Organize Business Department events
  • Grading of assignments as requested
  • Order library books for faculty
  • Develop departmental relations with alumni
  • Simple evaluation of course assessments, as appropriate
  • Carry out simple research requests from departmental faculty
  • Other clerical tasks according to departmental need
