Student Worker Statement of Understanding of the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

By virtue of your employment with your assigned department at Belmont Abbey College, you may have access to records which contain individually identifiable information, the disclosure of which is prohibited by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974. You are required to acknowledge during the on-line application process that you fully understand that the intentional disclosure by you of this information to any unauthorized person could subject you to criminal and civil penalties imposed by law. You are further required to acknowledge that such willful or unauthorized disclosure also violates Belmont Abbey College’s policy and could constitute just cause for disciplinary action, including termination of your employment, regardless of whether criminal or civil penalties are imposed.
